Yoakim Bridge 2014 Dry Creek Valley Estate Zinfandel

The fruit from our dry farmed, old vine vineyard was picked on September 22, 2014 at the height of the California drought. We believe this historic drought truly intensified the fruit and nuance of our world class terroir. We taste predominant notes of cedar, pomegranate and a white pepper finish. It is luscious, fruity, dark-hued and intense, and is drinking very well. Tannins are minimal. Enjoy now or in the next two years. Last night we enjoyed a bottle with a smoked rack of St. Louis pork spareribs with a sour cherry sauce inspired by Bruce Aidels’ Great Meat Cookbook. Give it a swril!

Yoakim Bridge Estate 2013 Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel

Grown entirely on our five acre estate dry farmed vineyard, this wine is 100% Zinfandel. It is an exquisite representation of our world renowned appellation. It is forward on the pallet with spicy notes of cinnamon, anise and raspberry. Acidity, tannin and fruit are in balance yet it is complex and delicate. It is a powerful wine. Celebrate now or lay down for a year or two. We look forward to enjoying it with spring lamb, summer barbeques and always, sunset on the porch.

Yoakim Bridge Estate 2012 Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel

One of the finest examples of our estate grown old-vine Zinfandel has evolved into a classic that continues to impress us. The wine is bright and smooth and filled with fragrant notes of raspberry and red cherry fruit. It is silky textured and drinks beautifully now with plenty of soft tannin still on the finish to ensure another a year or two in the cellar.

Yoakim Bridge RED WINE NV Dry Creek Valley

Why “Red” wine? Because Virginia likes to tell everyone that David says a wine’s primary responsibility is to be RED! This particular red wine is a super tasting blend of 65% 2014 Pinot Noir, Dry Creek Valley, and 35% Estate grown Yoakim Bridge 2015 Zinfandel. Of course I could have used 10% less Zinfandel and legally labeled it Pinot Noir-but it wouldn’t have been the same fine wine, and I am a winemaker after all. This is the best blend I tasted after many weeks of trails. It has great finesse, a silky slightly perfumed finish with just enough sweet French oak on the pallet. Best of all, drink it as you would a food loving Zinfandel or Pinot Noir. Drink now or within the next two years.

Yoakim Bridge 2011 Dry Creek Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

This wine is a lively composite of three older Dry Creek Valley bench-land vineyards. We aged the wine in our cellar for over two years on 40% French oak. It has a hint of vanilla and sweet spice on the nose, is slightly herbaceous and finishes well. It has benefited greatly from two additional years of bottle aging with not a hint of flabbiness. We look forward to drinking this lovely young Cabernet for the next 5-7 years. Its13% alcohol makes it a fine companion of semi-ripe cheeses, filet mignon and lightly smoked fowl.

Yoakim Bridge 2013 Merlot Dry Creek Valley

This is another classic, sturdy Merlot from the wooded Western bench estate of Brian Gallaway’s vineyard in Dry Creek Valley. It has great depth, notes of rhubarb and plum, and a deep garnet hue. It is a delicious, balanced wine of moderate alcohol and acidity. We love it with Pacific Salmon and most of all, pan seared duck.

Yoakim Bridge Dry Creek Valley 2013 Petite Syrah

This Petite Syrah from the western bench of Dry Creek Valley is ready to enjoy, somewhat unusual in that it is so young. What a delight! Engaging hints of blueberry and luscious dark fruit make this a perfect accompaniment to all kinds of wild game, turkey, or a great cut of beef. Not a trace of astringency will interfere with your enjoyment. Drink now and be prepared to order more as fewer than 100 cases are available.

Yoakim Bridge Dry Creek Valley 2011 Petite Syrah

This is a silky, young, delightfully drinkable wine, full of rich cherry fruit, bone dry and of moderate strength with a lengthy finish. Its’ clarity, brilliance and deep purple hue are remarkable. This is an excellent accompaniment to wild mushroom risotto with spring peas, asparagus and mascarpone, as well as lightly smoked meats and cheeses. Drink now or hold 2-5 years.

In the tasting room I am often asked to explain the difference between Syrah and Petite Syrah. Petite Syrah does, in fact, have somewhat smaller berries as its’ name suggests. It is, however its’ own varietal, a hybrid of Peloursin and Syrah grape crossed in 1880 in California. The fruit is meaty, tannic and always produces a dark blackberry hue. It was the “blender” of choice for many generations and only recently has become much appreciated for its’ uniqueness and depth of flavor. Careful racking and final filtering are required to insure its’ brilliance and clarity.

Yoakim Bridge Dry Creek Valley 2016 Rose’ of Zinfandel

Personal note: For years Virginia has asked me to make her a white wine. For many reasons this has not been possible. Last season, the 2016 afforded us the opportunity to make a limited amount of Rose’ of Zinfandel grown exclusively on the property. One hundred and eighteen cases were bottled in February 2017.
We were amazed at the lengthy floral nose and the bouquet, reminiscent of the lovely white roses in the garden. Adequate acidity and 14.1% alcohol insure that this engaging blush will delight. The coming Holiday’s give many reasons to warm up with opening peals of celebration. This is an historical FIRST for us: Join us!

    Yoakim Bridge Zinfandel Sauce

This is Virginia’s original recipe featuring a blend of our estate Zinfandel wine, raspberries and other secret ingredients. It is an excellent complement to any grilled fare, especially ribs, chicken, salmon and game. Also try it on meatballs for a simple and delicious appetizer (that many of you may have sampled on your last visit!) It contains a trace of chocolate for it’s lingering finish. Sold only through the winery, it makes a lovely gift for friends, family and business associates.
